A semi regular schedule of posting?!?! Sure why not. "Shoot the moon!", that's my motto. Especially when playing spades. Nope wait, I'm more a blind nil guy. Probably not when I'm first to bid. 3rd or 4th sure, but a blind nil from 1st? So reckless!!! And fun!!! Anywho, sketches!!!!
It goes another round of GoT sketches.....not the greatest, but you can tell who they are.....except the 3 who aren't main characters. Oh and the ones on notebook paper are from a cafe. Not quite confident in hitting gesture drawing still so it's mostly people who were hanging out for a minute or two. Only one seemed to catch on I was sketching them.......or creepily staring at them, which isn't exactly mutually exclusive. Maybe next time!!! If I develop a taste for coffee that is!!!

Back again!.....AGAIN!!!!!
Man, what a crazy year. So to sum up, I think it went dog surgery, various electronics breaking, big things falling off car, AM animals and creatures (amazing!), interview for rigging job, dilapidating sickness, snow dog sculpture, daily sketches/art lesson, snow bear sculpture, Pixar animation job interview!!, mom breaks her arm exactly 3 hours later, helping out with that for a month, pixar rejection email, various guest lecturers and comedians betwixt much of those.
The Pixar interview was easily the highlight. A couple of friends who also got in said it felt more like a meet and greet than an actual interview. It did seem that way a bit, but I enjoyed every bit of it. I definitely overstayed my welcome, hanging out with some friends before their interviews :P I was just too excited. During the interview I asked what I could do to improve my reel and paraphrasing he said that my physicality has a solid foundation(thank you AM), but I could really work on my acting. I could see what the animator was saying so lately I've just been looking for amazing acting in audio clips. I'm probably being too picky, but just grabbing the first piece of audio that pops up to animate up a new reel in record time seems misdirected. I'm gonna try to find a Hanks clip I like.
Oh, but yes, sketchbloginess. Since I started daily sketches, I'm at 120 pages. However, a lot of them are just trying to copy images from art books or paintings. I've got to say Mucha has probably been my favorite. That being said, not being original interpretations or anything, I wouldn't feel comfortable posting them to the blog. The stuff from TV however, sure why not. First 2 pages from some sitcom.....the rest are Game of Throney. There are some gesture drawing attempts. Not the greatest sketches, but their all steps forward.

Focus!!!!
Woah, just finished AM. It was a rough journey but my animation skills have certainly improved greatly. May not be top notch just yet, but the only direction to move is forward. I have retouches I want to make to some prior shots before I upload to vimeo, but it should be up within a week. Next phase: applying to places.
Also, woah!!!! Glen Keane left Disney?!?! It's sad news, but also exciting!!!! I dunno, I've heard several responses to the departure as devastating. As if there's only one terrible outcome that can befall such circumstance. No! Come on people, be optimistic! I can't wait to see how the change will effect both Disney's and his own future projects. Such possibilities!!!!!!
Anywho, figured I can't post without a drawing so I finally attempted copying Freddy's weird merle. He's all angry because we didn't go for a walk yet. I dunno, the face & paws, meh. I really liked how the shoulders turned out :P Oh, and figured I'd include a pic of the loveable mutt(from 4 years ago). Now, back to workin on the reel!!!!

Chades Challenge LXVIII: Renewed Frogs
Blimey! Uhhh, so for this one, drew from 2 direct inspirations. Any guesses? :D
I was having trouble thinking of an idea at first. For some reason renewed frogs didn't = zombies in my brain. However, once I saw Froggenstein, The Hopping Dead just clicked. I traced the title from a cover I grabbed on comicvine.com......clearly the "Hopp" is nowhere near on par with the rest(althoug....if I stood up those two Ps....maybe). Oooh, and since I'm still struggling with faces I ended up throwing in the Swedish Chef :p it made sense at the time. He hung out with Kermit so......zombie frogs, yeah! Also, yeesh I stretched that torso!!!....or did I make space for the puppeteer? ahhhhhh :D........... I didn't :(

Chades Challenge LXVII Gluttonous Conquerors
I did another version of this a week or two ago but froze up before submitting. It wasn't good enough!!!! :P gotta let that way of thinking go, still/always learning.
Anywho! Uhh, I always wanted the player to be in the background in a silhouette but after ditching the original worms eye view I couldn't quite pull it off. So instead, tried for a super creepy mouth emerging from the darkness type thing......I need to work on lighting/shading....next time!

Buh!
Blast, so that rushed "gonna do 100 sketches in a week" thing didn't go over too well the other month. I did some but I froze up somewhere in there. Every once in a while I'll get on a role, but eventually I always end up freezing at some point. Gotta work on that.......anywho, was doing the twitter thing, and got inspired to do some quick sketches during lunch. Lynx sleeping, outlines of Fred doing his weird stretches when getting off a couch, him sleeping on his bed, and finally he turned into a deeper sleep. The nose feels a bit twisted at the end though :/
Also, here's a vid from the iPad app brushes. I was trying to sketch fred a while ago while he was sleeping but he kept tossing and turning.

Chades Challenge/Warm Up drawing!!!
I've been a fan of the Chades Challenge that Austin Madison does for a while now but have yet to contribute. I drew this one for the wicked tree themed one back in early November. So here's #3 the wicked tree!!! (and yes it's sticking out a tongue.......definitely influenced by a mock)
Then last night, I couldn't avoid attempting the lizard warm up drawing........and quite unintentionally.......I went with the lizard basking. I went that route because it's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of lizard. But I am quite happy it plays off the warm up bit. So here's #4 the basking lizard!!! (that left leg's proportion is messed up!.......it was recently cut off and it's in some sort of stage of regenerating back to normal?......same goes for the hands and feet!!)
